
Split is a beautiful, lively, seaside city. It is the second largest Croatian city. Split was founded by the Greeks but later became the home of the Roman emperor Diocletian who built himself a magnificent palace in AD 305. Split’s Old Town also includes the Diocletian’s Palace which is an UNESCO World Heritage Site. You can reach popular islands Brač, Hvar and Korčula by ferries from Split.
I’ve visited Split a couple of times in the past. But it was always during the summer when it was crowded with the tourists.
