For me, as our seasonal challenges turn to autumn, my thoughts turn to two things – color and family. Color, of course, is obvious. The yellows, reds and golds of autumn are everywhere as the seasons change and the trees erupt in an annual show of finery. Here on Kiawah though, our autumn colors (with the exception of our beautiful sweetgrass) are a bit more subdued. In a normal year we seek autumn’s beauty with family visits.Â
