Tesla fixes Model 3 brakes over the internet

Tesla has responded to criticism surrounding the new Model 3’s braking performance by transmitting repairs over the internet.

Respected US publication Consumer Reports bought an example of the sought-after electric car, finding its brake’s stopping distance was “significantly longer than any other contemporary car”, requiring more space to stop than full-sized pick-up trucks.

Responding to criticism, the manufacturer transmitted an “over the air” update to the Model 3 intended to improve its braking performance in a range of environmental conditions.

Jake Fisher, director of auto testing at Consumer Reports, said the sedan’s stopping distance shrunk by six metres, adding that “I’ve never seen a car that could improve its track performance with an over-the-air update”.
