I’m at the Airport, Now How Do I get to the City? And what’s the best way to get around?

So you’ve landed at Keflavik, now what?

As mentioned before, the airport is a bit of a hike to Reykjavik. It’s roughly 30 miles (50 km) away or a 45 minute drive.

Before you leave the airport do two things. Get some in case of emergency Kronur notes. 4000 (roughly $40) should do. This is just in case you need to take a taxi. I’m not 100% sure but I feel like the cabs were cash only. Everything else, even at the remote nature sites, will take all American cards just fine.

Also stock up on alcohol at duty free because alcohol is ridiculously expensive in Iceland. You’re forced to walk through it anyway to get to baggage claim.
