Volvo has finally introduced its first production electric vehicle, which should get its fans frothing in the mouth with excitement. However, those dreaming of an all-electric XC40 will be disappointed to learn that the Volvo we’re talking about is Volvo Trucks, and the electric vehicle in question is actually a lorry.

The new Volvo FL Electric is targeted mainly at urban distribution and refuse operations, and it is claimed that the lack of air and noise pollution will enable operators to plan for the lorry’s usage in housing areas and infrastructure more freely than ever.

Volvo Truck says that the zero-emissions lorry can be operated in indoor terminals and environmental zones that restrict the use of regular vehicles, while its low levels of noise present more opportunities for working at night, reducing the burden on the roads during the day.
