VECTOR VS. RASTER

Before you do anything in Photoshop or Illustrator you have to understand the difference between a vector and a raster image.

WHAT IS A RASTER?

Raster images are generated by a series of pixels (teeny tiny little square colored pigments that make up your photos). JPEGs, GIFs and PNGs are all raster images.
You’re surrounded by them. Raster images are online and on movie posters and billboards and even in your mail. Raster images can’t be resized without distorting the image because pixels have a defined proportion (based on their resolution), so when the pixels are stretched to fill space they distort and can become blurry or unclear.
